Hi,
I'm having trouble rewiring the ignition switch on my 1962 Guibileo 175. I have fitted a new wiring loom and have the wiring diagram for my bike, but the ignition switch is causing me a real headache.
The contacts for the lights appear to be on all the time, even with the key removed from the switch ?
I can get the brake light to work and the horn, but think that this switch is not the correct one for my bike, or it's faulty. I cannot find any info on this switch, It's an Aprilia FT53. Not sure if this is the correct headlight for this model as it looks like one from a b300 model to me ?
Any help would be much appreciated, i'll even consider fitting another type of 3 position switch if anyone has any recommendations.

Thanks,

Roger

Hi Nigel,

Thanks for your message. I had to buy an old headlight from Italy with the switch and connector block inside in order to get everything working. Unfortunately it has developed a carburation issue and doesn't always start, so have just advertised it on Car and Classic as I'm moving house next month and have decided to sell some of my old bikes.

Hi Roger,

Shame I didn't see your question earlier, My '62 giubileo is an Extra & has the Aprilia 150mm headlamp & ignition switch, I photographed the wiring installation before disassembly, so could have passed this on....was yours fitted with the 150mm h/lamp shell? if so do you still have it, along with the ign. switch & a key? if so I would be interested in purchasing them.

Regards
Nigel

Hi Roger I've just realised you had put up photographs!....it is the Aprilia installation, the reason you were having problems is you are missing the connector board which mounts to that plate with the 2 small tapped holes, all a bit late now I'm afraid

Hi Nigel,
Yes The bike was originally fitted with the Aprilia 150mm headlamp with a switch/key( which I bought from Italy) but not the connector board, which I couldn't source. It is in really good condition with an excellent headlight/reflector etc. If you want to but it from me you can give me a ring on 07799 660312 and we can discuss further.. I ended up replacing it with a 130mm headlight unit which had a connector board, but had to source a new reflector/rim/key and buy some paint and respray it !! I've just run out of patience now and want to sell it.
I've also got a complete rear light assembly I bought from America, but never fitted. Let me know if you're interested.
Regards,
Roger
