Hi everyone, im collecting a '51 plate Coguar this afternoon. Supercheap witn 5months tax and mot
Its been sat in a shed most of winter and is a bit tatty. Its got no throttle cable but Bob Wright is very kindly sorting me out (super helpful)
Checking online, I see the Coguar gets mixed reviews. The electrics in particular seem to be dodgy and was looking for any known faults that i might be able to upgrade/rectify while recommissioning this latter-day muscle bike. Id rather fix any issues in advance than be caught in an April shower and the whole electrical system shuts down. Even finding parts seems to be a bit of a mystery as no one wants to claim the engine. Local Honda dealer not interested.????
Dont know if any other models have any interchangeable parts. Maybe someond out there would know.

Hi Stewart, the engine is a basic Honda 125, so anything engine related should be available from a local Honda Dealer (except the one you've tried already). There are also certain things amongst brakes that are also the same as some Honda models so again a good Honda dealer will be able to look at things and say yes or no. I'm pretty sure that some Honda electrics may also have been used on the Coguar. The Coguar was built around the time that Gilera & Honda were talking about combining resources and although that never happened, Honda certainly supplied the engine (and probably more bits and pieces) to Gilera. Hope that helps even if in't not very specific.
