That would be to check the level of oil in the gearbox. I know the 2 stroke engine is lubricated by the fuel but you still need to oil the transmission cogs.

Have some scoring in the cylinder as well, i understand it is chrome plated, will it need a re-coating or are there still barrels available. Could i get away with a new piston and rings alone?

I have also attached an image of the piston, scoring is much deeper despite seller claiming to have fitted a new piston.

That'll need re-plated - you can have a brand new piston and rings but the bore is damaged and rather than trying to source a replacement barrel it's easier to have it re- nicasil plated. Look out for companies offering this to the motocross lot. I had a kawasaki motocross barrel re-plated as it looked like your photo and it came back like new. These guys did mine;

It's not cheap but then you get what you pay for.

All the scoring is below the ports, so have been told it shouldnt affect compression? Is this the case or have i been told wrong? Does anyone have any idea what the resale is like on a rebuilt sioux? Cheers
